Raja Ampat is world-famous for its marine life.
Snorkeling, diving, and kayaking are all incredible here, and absolutely worth experiencing.
But what made this trip different was discovering activities beyond the ocean.
Bird Watching and Slow Mornings
One early morning, we went bird watching to spot some of the island’s unique species.
Even without spotting many birds, just hearing the forest come alive at sunrise made it worthwhile.
It was peaceful, unhurried, and completely different from the usual fast-paced travel schedule.
A Hands-On Cooking Class Experience
After enjoying so many memorable meals on the island, we became curious about how the dishes were made.
So we joined a cooking class.
This wasn’t just a demonstration. The chefs involved us in every step:
- Chopping ingredients
- Mixing spices
- Tasting along the way
There was a lot of laughter, learning, and genuine interaction.
And the best part? We got to keep the recipes.
Bringing Raja Ampat Home with You
Now, every time I recreate one of those dishes at home, it brings me right back to the island.
The ocean breeze. The sounds of the kitchen. The feeling of being completely disconnected from everyday noise.
It’s more than just food, it’s a memory you can relive.

What made this trip truly special was the freedom to shape it around what we wanted.
There was:
